Following the contractor’s demands and functional description of the device, we developed an electronic driver for the solenoid, which charges from a small silicon solar cell with nominal output current of a few mA. We developed hardware and software that enabled electronics to be charged from a ‘smaller’ capacitor enough to allow cyclic starts of the solenoid. We achieved power consumption of a 30 uA and cyclically stored enough energy to actuate the solenoid every hour. The result of the project was a comprehensive testing and examination with all laboratory tests in different operating conditions.
